Sea Ark Boat, 22 degree Rail Mounting

Baseplate holds the downrod and sits atop the 22 degree mounting bracket. Sea ark boats have 4 inch wide gunnels so when installed a 8 inch baseplate is best and keeps the downrod and transducer close to the edge of the boat.

When deciding between Aluminum and Marine board material for the baseplate construction please consider the water you fish.

If fishing water with a lot of stumps and other obstacles, the Aluminum baseplate should be considered as it is very strong and not subject to stress breakages.

Marine board is a fine material if the water you fish is clear (ie you are not likely to run into submerged obstacles). It is a reliable low cost option that will serve for a very long time and will save a bit of money at the same time.
